Your role

This is a hybrid technical and functional position.

You will contribute directly to the development of our platform while also helping translate business, insurance and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions.

Working closely with our CTO and with our Insurance, Data and Product/PMO teams, you will progressively develop a broad understanding of our platform and its architecture.

Your main responsibilities

Software development & architecture

  • Design, develop and maintain features and services within the Datafolio platform.
  • Contribute to backend development, APIs, integrations and data flows.
  • Participate in technical design and architecture decisions.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and improve existing applications.
  • Contribute to code quality, testing, documentation and technical best practices.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of our tools, processes and development methods, including AI recipes and reviews.

Functional analysis

  • Collect, understand and challenge business and user requirements.
  • Translate functional requirements into clear technical specifications and solutions.
  • Work with developers and business teams to design new functionalities.
  • Understand our data models and help business teams make effective use of available data.
  • Design and execute functional testing plans.
  • Support the deployment of new features, including documentation and user support.

Who you are

We are looking above all for a versatile and curious technical profile rather than a specialist limited to one technology.

You:

  • Have a solid software development background and enjoy coding.
  • Are able to understand both technical and business problems.
  • Enjoy investigating complex topics and turning them into pragmatic solutions.
  • Are comfortable working with APIs, databases, data models and modern software architectures.
  • Are comfortable with the use of AI tools as a development assistant, and you are able to accelerate your work with AI without losing ownership of the generated code.
  • Can communicate effectively with both developers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Are autonomous, pragmatic and solution-oriented.
  • Like learning and are comfortable working on subjects you don't initially master.
  • Enjoy working in a small team where responsibilities are broad and everyone's contribution has a visible impact.
  • Are fluent in English in a professional environment. French language skills will be a plus.

Experience in insurance, fintech or another regulated environment would be a plus, but is not mandatory.

What we're looking for beyond the immediate role

This position is particularly suited to someone who wants to broaden their scope beyond software development.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with our CTO, gain exposure to architecture and product decisions, understand the business behind the technology and progressively take ownership of increasingly strategic technical topics.

Location

We offer a flexible working environment, including remote working.

However, regular in-person collaboration with our CTO in Lyon is essential for this position.

Candidates must therefore be able to travel to Lyon frequently, with straightforward and reasonably short travel arrangements, allowing them to attend in-person working sessions without significant logistical constraints.

The ability to reach Lyon easily and reliably is an important requirement for this position.

Compensation

Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience and salary expectations.

Working at Datafolio

Joining Datafolio means:

  • Joining a small, international and multidisciplinary team.
  • Having a direct impact on the product and the technical choices behind it.
  • Working with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility.
  • Being encouraged to propose, experiment, learn and continuously improve the way we work.
