In a context where 75% of terrestrial ecosystems are degraded[1], preserving biodiversity is becoming a major societal challenge, especially as 55% of global GDP depends on it[2]. Yet no incubator in Europe or France had yet fully grasped this issue. EuraTechnologies, France’s and Europe’s leading startup and innovation hub, is responding to this pressing need by launching Europe’s first incubator dedicated to biodiversity, supported by prestigious partners who are experts in their fields, at the intersection of technology and renaturation.
While investment in ClimateTech reached $86.6 billion in 2024[3], NatureTech reached $2 billion in the same year[4]. A gap that reinforces the need to take part in this still incipient market to give birth to technologies that measure up to the stakes. Collecting data and measurements is proving to be the primary issue in meeting these challenges, in which tech has a major role to play.
In a context where the building sector is responsible for 40% of Europe’s energy consumption[5], this new incubator is part of a dynamic transformation of EuraTechnologies’s PropTech branch, which now becomes PropTech – Biodiversité. The aim is to integrate the issues of renaturation, adaptation to climatic extremes and ecosystem preservation at the heart of urban transformation, by enabling the emergence of the next innovations in this field.
This project is taking shape in the Hauts-de-France region, France's second-largest area of industrial wasteland. This is a huge area for experimentation, offering many opportunities for entrepreneurs to test their innovations. Thanks to its position at the crossroads of Europe and its key partners, EuraTechnologies will also enable startups to reach a much wider market by touching Europe.
In order to give this incubator a scope commensurate with its ambitions and the need, EuraTechnologies is joining forces with three founding partners with complementary expertise: CDC Biodiversité EY ImpACT Lab and Bouygues Bâtiment Nord-Est.
By combining their expertise, these partners will provide entrepreneurs with excellent support, combining technical expertise, strategic vision and field experimentation. This founding foundation will soon be reinforced by the arrival of new players in the sector, united by the desire to act collectively to accelerate the renaturation of our territories.
« This unprecedented partnership with major players marks a decisive step in the use of tech as a lever in favor of biodiversity. EuraTechnologies has a twofold advantage for this first-of-its-kind launch in Europe: combining local experimentation through its roots in the Hauts-de-France region and European impact through its partners and the tech dimension of the innovations it supports. In this way, we aim to make a significant contribution to structuring the NatureTech market in order to respond to major environmental challenges, declares Koussée Vaneecke, Chairman of the Board of EuraTechnologies.
