EDF and EuraTechnologies, partners in developing and supporting tomorrow’s low-carbon solutions!

Following EuraTechnologies’ Supervisory Board meeting held this morning in Lille, EDF is proud to announce that it has acquired a stake in EuraTechnologies, thus confirming a long-standing collaboration that benefits the region's economic dynamism and employment. This investment reflects their shared ambition to provide low-carbon solutions and innovations that reconcile digital and energy transformation.

With several sites, including Le Blan-Lafont in Lille, in which it exercises its mission to support project leaders and startups, EuraTechnologies facilitates the emergence and implementation of low-carbon solutions for its activities and those of its ecosystem.
This priority mission ties in with EDF's raison d'être, which is to build a CO2-neutral-energy future, reconciling preservation of the planet, well-being and development thanks to electricity and innovative solutions and services.

At a time when climate change is imperative for us all, and the energy transition is a crucial challenge for the national and European economies alike, EDF has decided to take its commitment to innovation a step further by acquiring a stake in EuraTechnologies alongside other public and private shareholders.

By acquiring this stake, EDF is also supporting the implementation of the Campus Cyber Haut-de-France Lille Métropole, which EuraTechnologies is promoting for the benefit of local players. This is a strategic project for the protection of EDF’s customers (local authorities and businesses) and partner companies, particularly in the nuclear sector.

A first partnership signed for its iconic building

Finalized at the end of March 2023, this equity investment is a first for the EDF Group in a startup incubator and accelerator in France. It has led to the signature of a first partnership focusing on carbon emission reduction in EuraTechnologies' iconic building, Le Blan-Lafont.

Signed on May 30th, in the presence of Luc Rémont, CEO of the EDF Group, this partnership focuses on themes associated with the site's energy consumption and production, working on the uses and production of electricity, heat or cold, and the human resources necessary to achieving this.

Through this partnership, EuraTechnologies can count on EDF's expertise, from its feasibility studies to the identification of solutions and offers, to propose optimized recommendations for the energy renovation of its Le Blan-Lafont building, within the framework of the Public Service Concession of the Lille European Metropolis, owner of the site.

Mathias Povse, Director of EDF's Regional Action in Hauts-de-France: "I'm delighted that the EDF Group's 1st participation in an incubator and accelerator is taking place in Hauts-de-France,  the capital of EuraTechnologies. The agreement signed on May 30th is the first building block in a long-term partnership. We are going to mobilize EDF Group's expertise to support EuraTechnologies in defining its decarbonization strategy and supporting innovative companies in this sector. More broadly, the EDF Group intends to work with the other shareholders to develop EuraTechnologies and its regional sites".

Koussée Vaneecke, Chairwoman of the Board of EuraTechnologies: "EDF Group's investment is excellent news for EuraTechnologies and its mission to foster the emergence of European tech champions. More and more of our startups are proposing concrete solutions to reduce their carbon footprint. Welcoming EDF as a shareholder and partner is both an opportunity to support early startups and to industrialize the mature ones. And for EuraTechnologies, to benefit from the expertise and precise studies required for the energy renovations of its iconic building, turning it into a demonstrator of efficient and inspiring solutions".
